Island Cres
Cres is one of the Kvarner islands. This island has a population of 3,238 people. People have lived there since the neolithic era. The Romans invaded and overthrew Cres during the existance of the Roman Empire . After the Roman Empire was destroyed, Cres became part of the colonies along the Adriatic sea clomid .
One of the oldest Croatian monuments on the island is the widely known Valun Tablet, written in the early 11th century. From 1000 to 1358 the island was owned by Venice, despite a slightly lengthy power battle for some time after 1358, Venice regained control temporarily from 1409 to 1797. The capital was moved from Osor to Cres under Venetian rule. Osor steadily lost its grandeur and decadence over time and eventually decayed. In 1945, the island was permanently joined under its mother island, Croatia.
