The luscious countryside around the village provides wonderful hiking opportunities that the whole family will enjoy. Dotted with pine trees, the landscape is Mediterranean in nature and with the abundance of not only oleander, bougainvillas and palm trees, the city is also home to two-century-old Eucalyptus trees, having earned it the nickname ‘The island of flowers‘.

Not only rich in natural beauty, Ilovik is also rich in history with ruins of ancient Roman civilizations still present today. Remains of Roman buildings, coins, mosaics and even a burial sarcophagus are all located on this small island jewel and available for viewing.

Several small family owned restaurants offer a taste of the exquisite local cuisine. Don’t be surprised if you notice olive trees and grape vines all around restaurants and many of the local homes as well, as these island natives love to grow and harvest their own Mediterranean staples to prepare only the most authentic dishes possible.
