Krk

Located on the southwest part of Krk Island, the town of Krk is a settlement that is a popular area for travelers. In Krk, visitors can find Roman ruins, as well as a cathedral made of white stone. The town square includes a 15th century town hall. The Castle of Frankopans is best described as well-preserved from the 12th century. It now hosts events, such as the popular jazz festival. Other festivals also draw a crowd, mainly during the summer months. Due to the lack of hotels in the town of Krk, the main accommodations are made with private houses. Those travelers in need of a hotel will most likely seek one outside the city. Hostels can provide a bed for travelers if there is room.

As far as outdoor activities go, tourists are advised that they should be aware of potentially dangerous insects in the area. Insect repellent and sunblock are two recommended necessities. The majority of travel in the town is done by foot, as all the major sights are in walking distance of each other, and tourists should plan accordingly.
