Omisalj
In the north-west of the island Krk lies a small coastal town called Omisalj. Omisalj was built by the Romans in the 3rd century; At the time, it was called Fulfinium. Populated by about 3,000 citizens, Omisalj is at about 80 meters above sea level, on a cliff overlooking the Kvarner bay.
The olden architecture still stands in Omisalj, consisting of beautiful masonry and maze-like streets. Many beautiful churches from long ago still stand in the town to accompany it’s Renaissance yet slightly Classical feel. Omisalj beaches are not beaches you would find back home; made up of terraces of sand, the water becomes deep fairly quickly, but close to shore it is shallow enough for children. A peaceful place, Omisalj is a great choice for a visit.
