Osor

 

Osor is on the island of Cres in the Western region of Croatia. The first settlements of this area are dated back to the prehistoric times. This was an important trading center to the ports of the Northern Adriatic Sea. A swinging bridge connects Osor to the island of Losinj. This channel was built in the Roman Era in order for ships to pass.

In the main square of Osor is the Church of the Assumption, this church contains a collection of paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries. Also in the town square is a sculpture that is related to music, sculpted by Ivan Mestrovic. During the summer months Osor hosts musical festivals with musicians from throughout Croatia.

There is a wide selection of private accommodations in Osor, including two well kept campgrounds, with all the necessary amenities. If you visit Osor there is plenty to keep you busy throughout your stay. The people are kind and have a way of cooking seafood that you will not experience anywhere else in the world. With recepies that have been passed from generation to generation.
